How to help us

Why does Outward need to fundraise?

As a not-for-profit organisation providing support and care services, we have a hugely positive social impact on people with learning disabilities, older people, people with mental health issues and young people in housing crisis.

We are able to provide some of this support through contracts with local councils, but these are becoming ever more competitive and challenging in the current economic climate. As a result, the income received through council funding just doesn't allow us to dedicate the same level of resources to the exciting and creative projects for which we have become known. We don't want to stop providing these. Instead, we want to do more!

Past projects have included a hugely successful employment support scheme and a Digital Champions initiative that gave people with learning disabilities the chance to develop much-needed IT skills. These projects have really helped to transform people's lives. We have already identified a new, exciting fundraising project for 2017 that will have an even bigger impact.

All of this can only continue with your support – the people who know the value of Outward.

We are fundraising for Nutley Edge Activity Breaks in 2017

Everyone deserves a holiday. Holidays give us all a chance to get away from the day-to-day stresses of life, recharge the batteries, meet new people and have new experiences.

Many of the people we support live in the most deprived parts of inner city London. They have few opportunities to get out of the big city and enjoy the things we often take for granted, such as the magic of the countryside or excitement of the seaside. We want to remedy this and are doing everything we can to give the people we support the chance to enjoy a good holiday, at least once a year.

That's why we have started running our specialist Activity Breaks at Nutley Edge.

We believe that our Activity Breaks are a great holiday option for people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions. Nutley Edge is in beautiful East Sussex, in the stunning Ashdown Forest. One of the people we support, Paula, went on an Activity Break last year. She returned rejuvenated, telling us:

"I had a family bereavement and had felt depressed. Going on holiday made me feel much better and it gave me a break from home. I would recommend the break to anyone".

This told us everything we needed to know. We should focus on providing more of these life-changing experiences to vulnerable people struggling to get away for a holiday.

How can I support Nutley Edge Activity Breaks?

We really need your support to make our holiday dream a reality. We do subsidise some of the holidays already, for people on limited budgets. However, we would love to be able to offer many more subsidised holidays across the year. Any donations or funds raised will really make a big difference:

  •  A £10 donation will help subsidise a delicious evening meal on an Activity Break
  • A £50 donation will pay for the coach to take a guest to and from Nutley Edge
  • A £100 donation will cover the costs of two exciting activities on the holiday
  • An £800 donation will completely cover the cost of an Activity Break for someone who could not otherwise afford to go
  • You can also make a monthly donation of £10 or more, which will really help us subsidise holidays across the entire year.
