Description

Purpose of the Role:

As the Arts and Crafts volunteer, you will plan and lead arts and crafts based activities for people we support with the assistance of support staff.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan short art-based workshops
  • Lead workshops
  • Purchase necessary materials for workshops (expenses will be reimbursed)
  • Clear up after the workshops
  • Collect feedback from participants

 

Skills, Attitudes and Experience

  • You have some experience in project planning
  • You have knowledge of arts and crafts
  • You have some experience sharing your skill with other people
  • You are reliable and punctual
  • You are able to communicate with people with learning disabilities in an understanding way
  • You are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities
  • You are empathetic and open-minded
  • You are organised and can work independently

Time Commitment

2 to 4 hours per week.

Required Training

Before commencing your role, you will be required to complete the following training:

 

  • Volunteer Training Session (approximately 2 hours).
  • Online CareSkills Training: Equality Diversity and Inclusion, Safeguarding of Adults, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism.
  • Service Inductions (if volunteering in a service).

  • You may be asked to attend an informal group or individual interview and info session. If you are selected for a volunteer role, you will be required to undergo a DBS check, provide two references (either character or professional), submit a photograph for your volunteer ID, complete a health questionnaire to inform your individual volunteer risk assessment, and complete the mandatory training mentioned above before starting your role.
