Food Lovers Activity Break – Spring at Nutley Edge

Spring has arrived and we’ve enjoyed a week all about food!

We kicked things off with a great lunch at Uckfield Picture House Restaurant. We then headed to Nutley Edge to unpack and await the arrival of Gary from By Ambience who cooked us a delicious tasting menu.

On Tuesday guests got their aprons on and made vegetable soup and bread for lunch and in the afternoon decorated some great tea towels using fabric paint and citrus fruit to print the patterns. We ended the day by making a Thai Green curry and with full bellies we sang the night away with an Irish-themed karaoke session!

On Wednesday, we made scones, flapjacks, and brownies before hopping on our minibus, spending the afternoon in the sun in Eastbourne, and visiting Simply Italian for dinner and drinks in the evening.

On Thursday we welcomed back King of the Woods where guests foraged for nettles, made garlic pesto and garlic butter for a fajita lunch and cooked popcorn on the fire. We then got into teams Ready Steady Cook style and created a tuna pasta bake vs chickpea falafel, both went down a treat and they came joint first! We rounded the day with some good old competition with Quiz Master Mandy food style.

To finish the week we visited Babylon Eco garden centre for a potter and brunch in their beautiful café before travelling home to rest!

We also had a new volunteer this month and we couldn’t have completed the week without him. John did an excellent job of entertaining the guests, clearing the tables, making drinks and helping settle all the guests into their holiday – thanks John!
