Outreach

What We Do

Our dedicated Outreach team supports adults with learning disabilities and ASC to thrive in their own homes and in the local community. We work with each and every person we support to develop bespoke, co-produced support plans, that identify what you want from your support and how we can help you achieve your goals.

We can help with:

  • managing money and benefit applications
  • support to manage health conditions and healthier lifestyles
  • socialising and meeting new people
  • managing a tenancy
  • gaining employment or volunteering opportunities
  • accessing activities and befriending led by our Community Engagement team.

ASC Outreach

As part of our Community Outreach service, we have a specialist team experienced and trained in supporting people on the autistic spectrum, including those with complex and multiple needs.

This service offers all the support provided by the general outreach service but in addition, the staff have received specialist training in Autism, Positive Behaviour Support, Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Interventions and other relevant training.

Our specialist ASC outreach service also offers a service review where staff will attend all client reviews and associated meetings.

Our team can help people:

  • improve their communication skills, whether they are verbal or non-verbal
  • manage their sensory needs
  • reduce and manage anxiety
  • develop motivation and self-esteem
  • become more independent
  • achieve their goals
We are also proud to be accredited by the National Autistic Society.

Why choose Outward?

Choice – you can see staff profiles in advance of the
package starting and choose who you would like to support you.

Flexibility – you can request specific times throughout the week that can accommodate your needs.

Banked hours – if you don’t use all of your contracted hours, you can bank them and use them when you need them.

Community – from drop-ins to movie nights at our Walthamstow hub, we provide a sense of community for the people we support.

Great Relationships  – we have great relationships with friends, families, professionals, and local authorities, making it easy for us to collaborate to empower the people we support.

Staff and Training

Our staff team represents a mix of ages, gender, ethnicities, religion and backgrounds so we can fully meet the needs of people supported. Some colleagues also have lived experience of autism. All of our staff are selected based on their values and trained to meet our high standards for person-centred care. Our training is regularly refreshed and includes:

  • Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Non Abusive Physical and Psychological Intervention (NAPPI)
  • Autism Level 1 and Level 2
  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

Where can we provide support?

We can offer support to people who are self-funding, receive direct payments or managed care packages through social services and support people across most North, East London boroughs.

We are currently supporting people in the London boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Haringey, Enfield, Hackney, Islington, Waltham Forest and the City of London.

If you live outside of these boroughs, we may be able to offer a service so please get in touch to discuss your needs.
