Outward is proud to join a diverse and vital network of care providers, collectively serving over 1.2 million individuals and employing a dedicated workforce of 1.59 million in the UK. Together, we’re supporting the #ProvidersUnite campaign, uniting adult care service providers across the country to advocate for change and safeguard the future of social care.
In a joint letter to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, #ProvidersUnite urgently calls for an immediate review of the impact of the Autumn Budget on social care, and for the establishment of exemptions similar to those granted to the NHS or adjustments to Local Government Finance, to bridge the funding gap.
Our sector is critically underfunded today, and we need £8.4bn to meet future demand, improve access to care and cover the full cost of care by 2024/25. The recent Autumn Budget announcements have substantially added to these costs. Despite these rising costs, only £880 million has been allocated for local government social care funding. This funding is insufficient given the demands on the sector, likely forcing care providers into difficult decisions that may affect service quality and access.
On Tuesday, 25 February 2025, the movement will host a ‘Day of Action’ in Westminster. The day will consist of a short, peaceful march, a picnic and meetings with local MPs, where possible. Representatives from Outward, including our CEO and directors, will be there. If you want to add your voice to our campaign, you can find out more and sign the campaign letter at #ProvidersUnite – Campaign for Change.
